Like many gym-goers, I recently found myself once again outside training with clients (as with the wonderful Marie, above), after a way too brief time back in the gym training.
Hopefully, this will be the last time this switcheroo happens and, once the doors of the gyms reopen again (next week!), this period of disruption will finally be behind us.
Fingers crossed, etc.
Despite the disruption and, even taking into account the er, bracing difference of training clients in the open air in the autumn as opposed to training outdoors during the summer, I will look back fondly on this period. Sure, the light is not so great in the autumn (I loved training in the open air during the summer, particularly in the bright early mornings), but it remains an exhilarating and refreshing experience. You also train differently outdoors, with more energy and attack.
You feel more alive.
Next week it's back to the gym floor, which obviously has its benefits concerning access to equipment and other in-house resources, but that does not mean I won't also be training outdoors with clients whenever they wish and when the will takes us.
There's a lot to be said for exercising in the fresh air!
