The more observant of you would have noticed that I am on holiday this month.
Taking time out and enjoying breaks from the norm' is a curious concept for some people in the fitness industry, or for those who take their fitness lifestyle especially seriously. Even the idea of taking time off to soak up the sun for a few days makes some people uncomfortable unless they know there is a gym nearby that they can use while on holiday.
Have a search on Instagram or YouTube and you will even come across video after video showing how to exercise in a hotel room.
I cannot think of anything worse.
Indeed, for myself, I see no problem with taking time off and enjoying the pleasures that life affords, particularly if you have worked hard for them in the first place. Reducing those pleasures by applying anxiety or guilt to their enjoyment is even worse and undermines the whole point of the exercise, which is to rest and recuperate.
Your work and the gym will always be waiting for you on your return (lockdowns permitting), so take the time out when you need to rest the body and unclutter your mind.
Your life will be all the better for it.
