When working out at the gym it can seem sometimes to be a complicated affair. All those resistance machines with their different settings and rack after rack of weights - like a workplace, you have to know what you are doing to exercise effectively in a modern gym.
Which is where personal trainers come in, of course!
But do not overlook the value of the simple foundation exercises and the benefits they bring. These can be delivered anywhere and require no (or minimal) equipment. They also work.
The chest, for example, can be given a great workout using variations on push-ups. By mixing incline and decline push-ups into your chest workout you can exercise the upper, lower and full chest easily and without equipment.
