I cannot recall a time when there has been such concern and confusion over the state of the world we live in and what may happen next.
What I think is also troubling for many people is the speed of the changes that have overtaken us during the past 12 months, and how our lives have changed so significantly. We have gone from leaving our homes to work, exercise and socialise, to staying at home under governmental direction to work from that home and not to socialise (though some exercise outside the home is still permitted).
Is it any wonder that mental health appears to be deteriorating for both children and adults alike?
One area of our lives where we have to focus and make the logical and right choices right now is in what and when we eat. I would argue that this is also the cornerstone for a healthy, energetic and meaningful life and our best defence against the restrictive pressures we are now under (pressures which, if left unchecked, have the potential to overwhelm and damage us).
Eating well in the current climate means making the right choices and applying routines to our eating habits and how they intersect with our preferred fitness plan. One cannot exist without the other.
So, whether exercising outdoors or at home, ensure that as much thought goes into what is being eaten, in which proportion and how regularly otherwise, no matter how well thought-out the fitness plan is, it will deteriorate without the right nutritional underpinning.
Plan, choose wisely what is to be eaten and continue to focus on the day when the current difficulties are finally behind us.
Because they will be, perhaps not tomorrow, but that day will come.
