I get asked a lot about what to eat when to eat and what to avoid where food and diets are concerned. These kinds of questions are usually around how to achieve a fitness or a weight goal, though sometimes the conversations I have with people concerning food are about the joys and pleasures of food.
I love these latter kinds of conversations!
As those who know me can confirm, I like to cook and I love to eat good quality food. I also enjoy selecting what to cook and eat and researching the preparation of recipes and meals. As part of this, I choose seasonal produce whenever I kind and encourage others to do the same.
Shopping seasonally where food is concerned can appear daunting at first, particularly in our developed society where industrialised farming is so dominant, but it is possible and worth it in terms of the quality of the produce that can be purchased.
There are two elements in understanding how to shop seasonally; the first is in knowing the natural seasonality of fresh produce (when certain crops grow, are harvested and brought to market) and the second is in being aware of where such produce can be purchased easily and affordably.
Our old friend, the internet, can help identify the above, as well as how to shop and enjoy seasonal foods. So, get clicking and start enjoying natural and seasonally-produced food!
